What are Social Clubs and Events?
Social Clubs and Events are the groups and activities that we offer to people up and down the country.
They take place in community centres, cafés, village halls, libraries and even sheds and can involve any kind of activity. The one thing that they all have in common is bringing people together.
Activities, events and classes
Taking place in community clubs and social centres, our social activities, events and classes can cover everything from art, tai chi and cooking to music, knitting and yoga.
As a social activity volunteer you might be helping in a dance class, sharing your craft skills, hosting an informative talk, leading an exercise session or sharing your talents as a guest musician or speaker.
Social dining
As well as joining one of our Lunch Clubs you can also join or set up your own social dining group. It can be anytime and anywhere; a regular breakfast at a local café every Monday, a curry on a Thursday night or a roast at a nearby pub on a Sunday.
Each social dining club decides when they meet and what food they want to serve, but they all have two essential ingredients; a generous helping of fine food and a healthy pinch of good company.
Bringing people together
Our First Time for Everything events, in conjunction with Prudential UK, offers over-50s a chance to embark on new adventures.
Events can offer everything from belly dancing and bell ringing to paddle boarding or digital photography, animal petting and Pilates to walking rugby or tai chi.
You can join the ever-growing army of volunteers stepping forward to share their talents and skills. If you have a great idea for a social activity, tell us about it and start your own group.
